Bo Bassett has just been more than phenomenal. Indeed, while he’s one of the hottest prospects in the NCAA, this hasn’t made him drift away from his high school career. Competing with Bishop McCort under his father Bill Bassett, he has achieved many accolades throughout the season, and there’s no one to give him a challenge, owing to the way he has been dominant in the recent matches on the mat.

Furthermore, Bassett achieved a significant milestone in his wrestling career that captured the attention of many. Indeed, it was an accolade that is truly magnificent for someone of his age, but the community has certain claims that point in the opposite direction, putting up a question mark for the wrestler, owing to the legitimacy of it.

Bo Bassett reaching that 100 mark

So what did Bo Bassett achieve that has left such a significant mark in the wrestling community? Currently, he is on a 100-0 streak in his career. Yes, 100 wins without any losses. That’s just spectacular! Remember, he’s only 17 years old! Indeed, he did compete against players of the same age or around that number, but still, he has overcome significant competition, and guess who his competitors are that he achieved this against? It was the Wyoming Seminary.

The #4 Wyoming Seminary was against the #2 Bishop McCort. They were also on a 719-day winning streak, but that didn’t go well, as Bassett and his team were able to demolish their wrestlers and secure a 37-17 victory. But who did Bassett battle against? It was Wyatt Fry in the 150 lbs division. And the results? Bassett absolutely destroyed him with a 21-5 technical fall in 2:52. Indeed, this particular win propelled him to his 100th straight victory in his high school career. Furthermore, he achieved 62 techs, 32 falls, and a 96/100 bonus in these 100 victories, as reported by Baschamania on Instagram.

This accolade came after his three major titles in the season, and what were they? He secured a third Super 32 title, a third Ironman Wrestling Tournament title, and a third Powerade Wrestling Tournament title. Indeed, to acknowledge these wins, he sent out a heartfelt note to his legion of followers on social media, stating, “Blessed to be a 3x Powerade, Super 32 & Ironman Champion! Grateful for every moment, every challenge, and every victory & defeat. This journey has been filled with hard work, faith, and incredible support. The season’s far from over.”

Never once in his life will Bassett forget his faith, nor will he refuse to acknowledge the efforts that he put into his career. Indeed, he wants that top-tier college to kickstart his NCAA career in the future, and he knows that every single victory is another step closer to his ambition. However, despite the dominance and this 100th win, many in the community are in doubt about the statistics.

Wrestling fans not buying the stats

Whenever there’s an unpredictable accolade like Bo Bassett achieved recently, the community often questions the legitimacy of the stats that are being provided out there. One social media user stated, “Idk man, the numbers seems really rigged. Who’s counting? I remember Knox and Zepeda did win against him.” Similarly, another user stated, “People just refuse to remember that he was smashed by Knox at Super 32 man, like quit on the glazing for a minute.”

So who are these two athletes that the community is talking about? They are Anthony Knox and Daniel Zepeda. However, does Bassett really lose to these two wrestlers? In the off-season, yes, but in any major event that is connected to the high school season? Absolutely not! On September 29, Bassett was on the mat against Zepeda, and he easily secured a 12-6 victory in the 144 lbs division. Similarly, against the same wrestler in October, Bassett prevailed again with a 10-7 sudden victory.

Many are also in doubt, as this user stated, “What about the Zepeda pin?” Similarly, another comment read, “But didn’t Anthony Knox beat Bo at super 32?” Without any solid evidence, another claim read, “He lost to both Knox and Zepeda.”

Well, whenever there’s a wrestler like Bassett dominating the mat, there will always be critics. They want to enter into his mind, but trusting himself and his performances on the mat, the 17-year-old has been really consistent throughout the season and will be keeping up his flow, as his goals for the future are clear.
