During the women’s 400m semifinal on August 8th, a false start created a dramatic moment when Lieke Klaver remained in her starting block, leading to a yellow card rather than a disqualification. However, Salwa Eid Naser won the semifinal decisively with a time of 49.08 seconds, while Rhasidat Adeleke finished second with a time of 49.95 seconds. Norwegian Henriette Jaeger (50.17) and Dutchwoman Lieke Klaver (50.44) will now have to wait to see if they advance to the final. Klaver’s warning, however, has introduced additional uncertainty for athletes in track and field.

This added to the mounting tension and excitement of the race, causing fans to erupt in frustration and agitation on X.

Among the many fans, a few expressed their anger. One fan remarked, “Klaver got pretty privilege lmaooo. She should be outta here.” Another added, “How is Klaver not disqualified for that??” A third fan commented, “Klaver out there playing games. There was no need to do that!”
